Nestled in rural South-Eastern Wisconsin, between the foot of the lake and the Niagara escarpment, lays a modest 500 square foot shop surrounded by a unique blend of natural beauty. This area has been the inspiration for craftsman/artisan Joe Nelson for over 30 years.
Joe has spent a large portion of his life crafting with wood and other natural materials to bring a unique and harmonious balance to many of his projects. It is this subtle attention to detail which sets his work apart from others. This, combined with the fact that he refuses to settle for “close enough” results, makes his work stand alone.
He has been a luthier (stringed instrument builder/repairman) for 11 years now and started making pipes about 5 years ago. Briar is a relatively new medium for Joe, but one that he enjoys the challenges of. He combines all the latest technology and materials together, to craft a pipe sure to meet the standards of any pipe aficionado. Although a relative newcomer to the pipe scene, he is not a newcomer to quality craftsmanship.
Your interest in an Old Nellie Pipe is much appreciated and you are invited to come in and see what he has to offer.
